The UAE National Day holds a special place in the hearts of every Emirati, and for me, it’s one of the most anticipated days on the calendar. This occasion calls for more than just celebration; it’s a moment of pride and inspiration that fuels my creativity to design something truly meaningful year after year.
Each year at thowby, we aim to create abayas that honor the spirit of the UAE while reflecting the core values of our brand: classic, simple, elegant. Creating a special edition for National Day is my way of showing appreciation for the country that has given so much to its people — and to this brand I built almost 7 years ago. Every detail of the collection is carefully thought out to reflect the heritage, legacy, and vision of the UAE.
What makes thowby’s 2024 National Day abaya collection unique is the use of digital print fabric, which will allow us to showcase the vibrant colors of the UAE flag with precision while ensuring the abayas maintain their classic elegance. Paired with our signature black and off-white hues, these designs are a perfect blend of modernity and tradition.
Our National Day is a reminder of the UAE’s journey, which is built on the vision of our late founder, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and carried forward by the nation’s leadership. It’s a story of resilience, hard work, and unity, values that we strive to embody in every piece we create at thowby. This year’s collection pays tribute to this spirit we carry in our hearts.
As December 2 approaches, I am filled with excitement to share this year’s collection with you all. As a homegrown Emirati brand, thowby owes much of its success to the environment of support for entrepreneurship fostered by the UAE. This nation has not only provided the foundation for our growth but also empowered us with values of resilience, innovation, and inclusivity. For this, we are deeply grateful.

Last year, we introduced a special edition that was adorned with Swarovski stones and inspired by the UAE flag. It was a collection that resonated deeply with our customers, both within the UAE and internationally, and it was very rewarding to see Emirati heritage traverse borders.

This year for UAE's 53rd Union Day, we are taking a fresh approach — one that blends innovation with tradition. Our 2024 National Day abaya collection will feature pieces crafted from digitally printed fabric in the colors of the UAE flag, complemented by our signature black and off-white palettes.
This special edition is an ode to not just the national pride of the UAE, but also thowby’s commitment to timeless elegance and modern design. We have incorporated the bold reds, greens, whites, and blacks of the flag into the abaya designs in a way that is both subtle and striking, making the abayas versatile for National Day celebrations and beyond.
