The Story behind The Brand Name

Why I choose the name “thowby ثـوبـى” for my brand. 

Our story and the birth of the thowby ثــوبــي name is dear to me, and I would like to take this opportunity to share a bit of it with you. I wanted to give the brand a name that relates to "ABAYA عباية" and the meaning of "thowby ثــوبــي " was just the perfect fit to name the brand.

I have always believed that choosing the right brand name would play an integral part of how the brand name may resonate with the clients, hence it was important for me to choose a brand name that reflects what we cater.

In order to help me find the right name for the brand, I have done some research and deep reading to guide me to come up with the right name for the brand. During my research I came across some interesting findings about the abaya custom.

Throughout history, women have traditionally covered their bodies with a very specific garment. And while this covering has endured through centuries and born a multitude of different names (such as huik, stola, milaya, or abaya), it has been modified and refashioned in every land and by each generation, and yet, the purpose of this garment has always remained the same – to be a cover for the one who wears it.

From this context I decided to name the brand thowby ثــوبــي . "thowby" is an Arabic word ( ثــوبــي ) derived from the word "thowb" ( ثــوب ) which refers to an outer garment that covers the body and extends over the legs, and this is what the abaya does.

I have to say that I have received so many compliments about the brand name and the logo design that made me so proud for coming up with thowby name.
